Rescue Remedies Cat and Dog Rescue
Rescue Remedies Cat and Dog Rescue started back in 2002 when our founder, Lynne, began fostering ex-breeding kennel dogs. We are now based near Gatwick Airport in the Smallfield area of Surrey.
We save death row dogs from council pounds and work with over 30 different dog wardens helping dogs as they run out of time. We have over 90 dogs on our books and always have many more on a waiting list. We don’t have paid staff or a call centre to handle enquiries, just dedicated volunteers processing applications and liaising with families. We are internet based and can only accept applicants via our online Homing Questionnaire which gives us the basis to match families to appropriate dogs.
In 2017 Lynne purchased boarding kennels with a cattery on site. Lynne was able to offer help to a few cats and boarded a small number when asked. In August 2022, in conversation with friends in a cat rescue, it became obvious that the demands in cat rescue for safe spaces was as dire as it had become in dog rescue. Lynne offered free boarding for cats in need and gradually, with links to vets, Animal Welfare Officers, and desperate cat owners, began to help more and more cats.
Rescue Remedies Cat Rescue was born! The cats are homed under Rescue Remedies and the Rescue pays for vet care and receives the Adoption donations.Rescue Remedies is very proud to state we have rescued 99 cats so far and have found homes for 78 (October 2024).
We have a 'Live Forum' via our websites: Each dog and cat has its own thread which volunteers update during their stay with us including pictures and videos taken on walks, cat cuddle sessions, days out and in foster homes. This offers insights into their characters for people to view and provides vital information for members of the public to make informed homing choices. Our dogs and cats come first in all that we do, and we aim to provide a caring, professionally run rescue that is funded via donations. We are recognised to be a rescue that doesn't discriminate adversely in terms of age, health, disability or breed type. We often fund complex operations to bring dogs back to health. We are so grateful for the support we receive from so many people in so many ways. We cover our vet and kennel bills working with a low reserve in the bank. We place our dogs and cats in good homes across the UK which should provide them with stability for the rest of their lives.
Once rehomed, we provide rescue back up for life.We need your help so we can continue to offer as many dogs and cats refuge as we can!
